Goalrilla Basketball Hoops

About the Company

The Goalrilla brand of basketball hoops is currently owned by Escalade Sports. Escalade sports started in 1927, when they were called Indian Archery and Toy Company, and produced bows and arrows, badminton equipment, water skis, and dartboards. They changed their name to Escalade Sports in 1997 and in 1999 they acquired the Goalrilla basketball hoops from Zue Corporation.

What Kind of Hoops do They Make?

Along with Lifetime’s Mammoth basketball hoops, Goalrilla is one of the two major brands of mid-range basketball hoops, and one of the popular kinds for residential players who are looking for something that is a little higher in quality. They used to offer basketball hoops with both glass and acrylic, but they have recently moved to producing only glass basketball units.

Price Range

Goalrilla basketball hoops generally cost in between one thousand and sixteen hundred dollars. Though the Goalrilla used to offer a “Pro Glass” model that ran about two thousand dollars or so. It has been discontinued

What Is Good About Them

Goalrilla basketball hoops are fantastic if you want something that is a lot higher quality than anything else in your general neighborhood. They are extremely rigid and feature eleven gauge steel poles, which is much thicker than the sixteen or eighteen gauge steel poles you can find on cheaper systems.

They also have a really fantastic installation system. Rather than cementing the pole straight into the ground, you cement an “anchor plate.” Once the cement dries, you simply bolt the pole to the plate and

What is Bad About Them

Since they only offer about different basketball hoops, the selection is extremely limited. Though the price is extremely reasonable for the quality you are getting, many casual players may not feel comfortable spending over a thousand dollars on their in ground residential basketball hoop.

Hoop Highlights

If you want to get a basketball hoop that is almost on par with the kind of basketball hoops that pro players probably have on their private courts, you should get the Goalrilla I In-Ground Basketball Hoop with 72 Inch Acrylic Backboard. The only real difference between this and an NBA regulation basketball hoop is the fact that NBA systems have glass backboards instead of acrylic, and the material on this system is three eighths of an inch thick, as opposed to half an inch thick.

However, for about five hundred dollars less, you can get the Goalrilla GS-III In-Ground Basketball Hoop with 54 Inch Glass Backboard. It is exactly as stable as the Goalrilla I hoop, but it features a fifty four inch backboard rather than the NBA regulation width of seventy two inches. This makes it the perfect basketball system for someone who is more concerned about the stability of their hoop rather than the size of the backboard.

Goalrilla also produces some excellent accessories, such as a hoop light and a pole pad. The hoop light is great if you ever expect to play basketball in the evenings.
