About The Company

Mammoth Basketball Hoops are produced by Lifetime basketball hoops, who are more famous for producing lower end basketball hoops. They were produced to compete with Escalade Sport’s Goalrilla brand of basketball systems.

What Kind of Hoops Do They Make?

Along with Goalrilla, Mammoth basketball hoops is one of the two major brands that make hoops that are a lot better than what you might find in your average driveway, but not quite as good as professional systems you might see in gyms. They are so good, however, that they can be found on a few institutional courts.

Price Range

Mammoth basketball hoops can cost anywhere from twelve hundred dollars up to eighteen hundred dollars for the professional grade models. Their price is comparable to Goalrilla basketball goals.

What’s Good About Them?

Overall, Mammoth basketball goals are very stable units. The seven or eleven gauge steel square poles (depending on the model) provide for very little vibration and a very responsive rebound. Mammoth units give you an option between units with acrylic or glass backboards. If you can afford it, it’s better to with the glass basketball backboards, because the rebound is much more similar to what you might experience on professional system.

What’s Bad About Them

While Goalrilla basketball hoops goals offer a crank adjust system for easy adjustment of the hoop from seven and a half up to ten feet, Mammoth basketball hoops instead rely on a pneumatic (gas assisted) adjustment mechanism. While preference for one over the other is entirely subjective, the majority of people actually find the crank adjust system to be easier to use. However, this shouldn’t be an issue if you plan on always keeping the rim at the regulation height of ten feet.

Hoop Highlights

One of the best deals that you can find is the Mammoth 98862 In-Ground Basketball System with 60-Inch Backboard. It features a sixty inch glass backboard, a 30 inch overhang, and a very easy to use pneumatic adjustment system.

If you want something that is a little more impressive, you can’t go wrong with the Mammoth 98874 In-Ground Basketball System with 72-Inch Backboard. It features a regulation seventy two inch diameter backboard and a huge four foot overhang. The only thing that is preventing it from being a completely pro-regulation system is the fact that the backboard glass is 3/8 of an inch instead of half an inch.
